Exposed Skin Care Secrets

Anyone that suffers with acne (Zits) may feel as if they spend most of their time searching for remedies; but things are gradually improving for sufferers. This is a skin complaint that affects many people around the world so scientific research to find a cure is fierce; the result of this effort is a growing range of effective treatments. Although the number of acne skin care products and treatments might at first seem endless, they can actually be categorized into three areas:*Over-the-counter: Preventative *Drugstore or Internet: Treatments that do not require a prescription *Prescription: Issued for specialized medication from a doctor etc. Preventative products are formulated to treat the skin in an effort to control the occurrence of acne; these include cleansers, make-up removers and other similar products that can help prevent the condition.

Many people use products similar to this every day as part of their skin care regime; often this is irrespective of whether or not there is a problem condition. More specialized cleaners are designed in the same way as acne skin care products; they are formulated to reduce and limit the amount of oil in the pores of our skin. When the pores become clogged with this oil, bacteria which can cause the problem begin to grow.

General skin care treatments also include special exfoliation products like skin peels; these can be bought easily over the counter or on the internet. This type of peel helps reduce the chance of oil clogging up the pores as well as removing other skin impurities; this can reduce the bacterium growth on your skin. There are specialized acne skin care products available over-the-counter, they do not require the need of a prescription. These formulations contain the chemical benzoyl peroxide and the naturally occurring salicylic acid; they work by removing the excess oil from the skin and halt the growth of acne. Generally it is best to start using this type of product with only a small amount of benzoyl peroxide (less than 5.5 percent is recommended), just to see how the skin reacts; should a reaction occur, products containing alpha hydroxy acid are generally safer.

As with any type of zit cream, you may need to try a few acne skin care products until you find one that will suit your skin; however, if nothing you try seems to work, you should contact a dermatologist. On-prescription treatments are prescribed by a dermatologist and can include ointments that can be applied on the affected area or oral antibiotics or just any topical ointment. In more serious cases your skin care specialist may decide that a small surgical procedure can be used to remove the oil and infection from your pores; this is not something you should ever attempt yourself. Your doctor may even suggest a course of hormone therapy as a skin care treatment; this type of skin care treatment has been very effective in many cases.

Tackling this skin condition is not the problem it once was and if treated properly permanently marked skin does not have to happen.
